1. Acceptance
By installing the MangaTranslate browser extension or using the MangaTranslate web service, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, do not install the extension and do not use the service.
These terms apply to all users, including free-tier users, paid subscribers, and anyone accessing the service through the API or any future client applications.
2. Service Description
MangaTranslate is a browser extension and AI-powered translation service that allows users to translate manga and manhwa page images from Japanese, Korean, and Chinese into their target language. The translated text is rendered directly into the original manga panels.
MangaTranslate is a translation tool. We do not host, distribute, publish, or provide access to manga or manhwa content. All content is accessed by you directly from third-party websites you choose to visit. We have no control over the availability or content of those third-party sites.

3. Account & Authentication
One account per person. You may not create multiple accounts to circumvent usage quotas or any other restrictions.
You sign in via Google OAuth or GitHub OAuth. You are responsible for the security of your account. If you believe your account has been accessed without authorization, notify us immediately at support@mangatranslate.app.
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms or that are used for fraudulent purposes.
4. Subscription & Billing
Free tier: 25 images per month at no cost. No credit card required. Usage resets at the start of each calendar month.
Paid subscriptions: Billed monthly or annually (where available) via Stripe. See pricing.html for current prices. Prices are in USD.
- Subscriptions auto-renew at the end of each billing period unless cancelled
- You can cancel anytime from the extension Settings screen; access continues until the end of your paid period
- Downgrading to a lower tier takes effect at the start of the next billing cycle
- Price changes: we will provide at least 30 days notice via email before price changes take effect on existing subscriptions
Refunds: Contact support@mangatranslate.app within 7 days of a charge for a refund. After 7 days, no refunds are issued for partial billing periods, except where required by applicable law.
5. Acceptable Use
MangaTranslate is for personal, non-commercial use only. You may NOT:
- Use automated scripts, bots, or other automated means to send translation requests
- Share your account credentials with other people
- Resell, redistribute, or sublicense access to the service
- Commercially redistribute translated content (translations are for personal reading only)
- Attempt to circumvent usage quotas through technical means
- Reverse-engineer, decompile, or disassemble the extension beyond what is permitted by applicable law
- Use the service in any manner that could damage, disable, overburden, or impair our infrastructure
6. Content Policy
MangaTranslate translates content that you choose to access on third-party websites. We do not curate, moderate, or control what you read.
Mature content: Mature content translation may be available on eligible plans when the feature is enabled. This feature requires explicit user opt-in in Settings. By enabling this feature, you confirm that you are at least 18 years old and that accessing such content is legal in your jurisdiction. You are solely responsible for compliance with local laws regarding mature content.
We reserve the right to suspend accounts that we determine, in our sole discretion, are being used for illegal purposes or in violation of these terms.
7. Intellectual Property
The MangaTranslate extension software, API, website, brand, logo, and associated technology are owned by the operator of this service.
Manga and manhwa source content is the intellectual property of its respective publishers, authors, and creators. This service provides translation assistance only; it does not grant you any rights to the underlying manga or manhwa content. You are responsible for your compliance with applicable copyright law in your jurisdiction when accessing and reading manga/manhwa content on third-party websites.
AI-generated translations are produced as a derivative work. The translated text is for personal use only. You may not republish, redistribute, or commercially exploit AI-generated translations of copyrighted works.
8. AI-Generated Content Disclaimer
Translations are generated by AI models (Google Gemini API and/or OpenAI API) and may contain errors, omissions, cultural inaccuracies, mistranslations, or inappropriate phrasing. We make no warranty of translation quality, accuracy, or fitness for any particular purpose.
The service is provided "as is" and "as available." AI translation is inherently imperfect. Do not rely on MangaTranslate translations for professional, legal, medical, or safety-critical purposes.
You can edit and correct translations directly in the extension. Your corrections are stored locally and are not used to train AI models.
9. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, MangaTranslate and its operator shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to: loss of profits, loss of data, or loss of goodwill arising out of or in connection with your use or inability to use the service.
Our total aggregate liability to you for all claims arising out of or relating to these terms or the service shall not exceed the total amount you paid us in the twelve (12) months immediately preceding the claim.
Some jurisdictions do not allow limitations on liability for incidental or consequential damages; in those jurisdictions, our liability is limited to the maximum extent permitted by law.
10. Termination & Governing Law
Termination by us: We may suspend or terminate your account at any time, with or without notice, if you violate these terms, for fraudulent activity, or if required by law. In cases of termination for cause, no refund will be issued for unused subscription time.
Termination by you: You may delete your account at any time from the extension Settings screen or by emailing support@mangatranslate.app. Your data will be deleted per the Privacy Policy. Any unused paid subscription time is non-refundable beyond the 7-day refund window in Section 4.
Governing law: These terms are governed by the laws of State of New York, United States, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of State of New York, United States.
Changes: We may update these terms at any time. Material changes will be communicated with at least 14 days notice via the extension popup. Continued use of the service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.
